Longonjo Site Activities

Ozango Commences main construction in h2 2025 after completion of the earlyworks programme.

Ozango Minerais S.A (Ozango) completed the early works activities programme at the Longonjo Rare Earth Refinery Project Site in H2 2024. The early works programme entailed construction and development of the mine infrastructure as well as the 107 person accommodation camp, the rehabilitation of the main access road to Project site, contractors laydown area and the progression of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) .

The Longonjo Rare Earth Refinery Project main construction activities commenced in May 2025 with key procurement and engineering contracts being placed and the resources assigned by the various service providers. The project delivery is being undertaken using the Owners Team Model with Engineering Service Provision by Lycopodium Africa (previously known as ADP Holdings Pty) who specialise in modular construction with extensive experience in Angola, and ProProcess Modular (Pty) Ltd (PPM) which has expertise in delivering modular process units across Africa.

The main earthworks and civil contractor, Grupo Nov, has expanded its workforce and additional earth-moving equipment to complete the terrace for the process plant, the contractor’s laydown area and to commence with the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) earthworks construction.

The EWP electrical contractor, Elektra, have been re-engaged to complete the outstanding infrastructure and accommodation camp electrical works with Franteba engaged to finalise the temporary power supply for the Longonjo solar and diesel generation plant.

SRK have been appointed to undertake the detailed design of the TSF and have solicited the services from specialist companies to provide key inputs into the design so as to meet Global Industry Standards on Tailings Management. The detailed design is progressing well and the first construction activities are scheduled to commence in the coming weeks.

As part of the mine construction progress the Project has continued engagements with the local community over the delivery of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP). The first tranche of project affected households are embarking on their journey towards livelihood restoration with a comprehensive agricultural development plan underway, with training modules geared to not only replace livelihoods but offer further enhancement opportunities including home-based vegetable gardens.

Pro-Process Modular (PPM) are hydrometallurgical specialists with expertise in delivering modular process plants throughout Africa.

Lycopodium Africa (Previously ADP) comminution and concentrator specialist in detailed design construction and commissioning of modular mineral processing plants with extensive experience in Angola.

Grupo Nov are Angola based specialists in earthworks and civil construction and management including engineering, environment, hydraulic works, rehabilitation of buildings, dams and maritime works.

SRK is a global firm specialising in geotechnical services for mining, civil, and environmental projects. They focus on soil and rock behaviour to support safe, efficient design of foundations, offering expert analysis and practical solutions for complex ground conditions.

Eriez is a global leader in separation technologies, renowned for its advanced flotation systems. The flotation columns supplied will play a crucial role in the beneficiation of rare earth elements, enabling efficient separation and concentration of valuable minerals.

MIP Global specializes in high-performance thickening solutions for the mining and minerals processing industry. Their thickeners will be integral to the dewatering process, ensuring optimal recovery of process water and reducing environmental impact.

BMS Engineers is known for its cutting-edge membrane technologies. The nano filtration units will be used to purify process water and recover valuable reagents, contributing to the sustainability and efficiency of the plant’s water management system.

DryTech Holdings is a specialist in thermal processing equipment. The kiln and cooler systems provided will be used in the thermal treatment of rare earth concentrates, a critical step in enhancing material purity and preparing feedstock for downstream processing.

Clark Solutions brings extensive experience in the design and supply of acid plants for industrial applications. The acid plant will support the hydrometallurgical processing of rare earths, providing essential reagents for leaching and separation processes.

NCP International are specialists in the manufacture and supply of comminution equipment to the mining industry.

Vuna Agribusiness specialise in delivering agricultural development programmes across Africa and have vast experience of supporting resettlement action plans (RAP). They are supporting the role out of the RAP.
